RHEL 6.1 system gets stuck during boot after scanning devices for LVM logical volumes

Issue

  • When the system boots up it gets to lvm and stops with the following message on the screen
dracut: Scanning devices sda2 sdb1 sdc1 sdd1 for LVM logical volumes 201207191350/root 201207191350/swap
dracut: inactive '/dev/201207191350/root' [200.00 GiB] inherit
dracut: inactive '/dev/201207191350/swap [16.00 GiB] inherit
dracut: inactive '/dev/201207191350/data' [7.79 TiB] inherit

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6 Update 1
  • dracut-004-53.el6_1.1
  • lvm2-2.02.83-3.el6
