Why is there a manual installation repository selection when using repo= anaconda option on RHEL5.8?

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

On RHEL6 we used the following anaconda option to provide the installation repository when starting a kickstart installation:

repo=hd:sdf1:/

When we do the same with RHEL5 a screen is being presented where manually the hard drive has to be selected. On the hard disk we have the following content:

dr-xr-xr-x 4 root root 1024 Feb  2  2012 images
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root   51 Sep 18 11:52 rhel-server-5.8-i386-dvd.iso
because it would not fit on CD.

Why do we have to manually do it on RHEL5?
