Issue

  • Why doesn't my libvirt guest shutdown when I issue a shutdown from virsh or virt-manager in RHEL?
  • Soft reboot is not working for RHEL 5/6 instances in OpenStack. Instead hard reboot is called after 2 minutes timeout

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5 or 6 virtualization host
  • libvirt virtualization
  • Red Hat OpenStack Platform 8
  • Red Hat OpenStack Platform 9
  • Red Hat OpenStack Platform 10
