JBoss EAP servers being randomly marked down in JBoss ON due to failed credentials

Issue

  • monitored servers randomly reported as down.
  • Agents randomly show as down with failed credentials

  • agent.log contains warnings similar to below message:

    WARN  [InventoryManager.availability-1] (rhq.core.pc.inventory.AvailabilityExecutor)- Availability collection failed with exception on Resource[id=112950, uuid=46731324-9aa4-4ffb-bc0a-3d35cdb8c8e1, type={JBossAS7}JBossAS7 Standalone Server, key=hostConfig: /opt/jboss/standalone/configuration/standalone.xml, name=jboss, parent=jboss.example.com, version=EAP 6.4.6.GA], availability will be reported as DOWN, reason=Availability check failed : Credentials for plugin to connect to AS7 management interface are invalid - update Connection Settings with valid credentials.

Environment

  • Red Hat JBoss Operations Network (ON) 3.3
  • Monitored server authenticating through a load balancer to an SSL enabled authentication source
