HTTPD socket connect failed for: /var/renderd/renderd.sock with reason: Permission denied

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • We have an application for OSM deployed on RHEL 6 with no issues. When we tried to install it on RHEL 7.2, the Apache HTTPD process keeps giving error socket connect failed for: /var/renderd/renderd.sock with reason: Permission denied when Web browsers execute URL to HTTPD on server. We even opened up 777 permissions on the directory and sock file, but it still did not work.

  • The socket works for utility the created it and renders tiles correctly via the same socket. HTTPD run under apache/apache, utility run under juser/juser. Permissions on directory and socket file is 777.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux
    • 7.2
