Extra characters added to large BLOB after mysqldump and mysql import in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5

Issue

  • What is the possibility of backporting the following bug which was noted as fixed in MySQL 5.0.80: http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=41486
  • mysqldump/import of big BLOB's brings new characters
  • Restoring from a dump adds "\n" randomly in queries longer than 32Mb
  • When importing large blobs (larger than the value of the mysql client's max_allowed_packet), extra invalid characters will be added to the data.
