System locks up with bnx2x_panic_dump in /var/log/messages on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.4
Issue
- Operating system begins
issuing bnx2x_panic_dumpmessages and system loses network access. - Panic dump messages continues until server is rebooted.
- Cycling the network task does not make any difference, it starts again as soon as the network is brought back up, and then the kernel panics.
- Loss of network, kernel panics:
bnx2x_panic_dump. - The following error messages are seen in /var/log/messages, followed by a firmware diagnostic dump from the bnx2x card:
kernel: [bnx2x_stats_update:4289(mgt2)]storm stats were not updated for 3 times kernel: [bnx2x_stats_update:4290(mgt2)]driver assert kernel: [bnx2x_panic_dump:537(mgt2)]begin crash dump -----------------
