Issue

  • Crontab comman fails with below error message
Module is unknown
You (root) are not allowed to access to (crontab) because of pam configuration.
  • /var/log/cron shows below error messages ...
crond[xxxx]: Module is unknown
crond[xxxx]: CRON (root) ERROR: failed to open PAM security session: Success
crond[xxxx]: CRON (root) ERROR: cannot set security context
  • Following is an error message in `/var/log/messages' log file.
crond[xxxx]: PAM unable to dlopen(/lib64/security/pam_vas3.so)
crond[xxxx]: PAM [error: /lib64/security/pam_vas3.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory]
crond[xxxx]: PAM adding faulty module: /lib64/security/pam_vas3.so
