Solution Unverified - Updated -

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux MRG

Issue

How can I improve event response times (latency) for my realtime  kernel on IBM BladeCenter systems?

Resolution

The ibm-prtm package available with Red Hat Enterprise Linux  MRG contains a utility and startup script for certain IBM BladeCenter  systems. It enables an Error Detection and Correction (EDAC) driver  and turns off generation of System Management Interrupts (SMI), which  improves system response time to events.
