Unable to write large files bigger than 2GB on encrypted NFS4 filesystem
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.11
- NFSv4 mounted share
- 3rd party safenetfs service running with module version 8.2.1.000-009
Issue
- Whenever user tries to write file bigger than 2Gb to an encrypted NFS4 partition, write fails with error message:
[user@hostname enc_share]$ date; dd if=/dev/zero of=largefile bs=1024 count=3000000; date
Sun Feb 28 16:07:52 PST 2016
File size limit exceeded <<========== ERROR
Resolution
- Safenet has confirmed this issue to be related to a bug in their ProtectFile product. Fix is not yet available.

- Bug in 3rd party product
Diagnostic Steps
- Encryption is provided by 3rd party module safenetfs.ko
$ cat sos_commands/kernel/modinfo_iptable_filter_ip_tables_x_tables_vsock_vmci_vmmemctl_tw |grep safenetfs -A1 -B1

- with stopped safenetfs service there is no issue seen
