Resource operations executed by rgmanager fail with "returned 128 (unspecified)" in a RHEL 5 or 6 High Availability cluster

Issue

  • clurgmgrd[xxxx]: <notice> status on ip "x.x.x.x" returned 128 (unspecified)
  • After error clurgmgrd[xxxx]: <notice> status on ip "x.x.x.x" returned 128 (unspecified) the clustered service fail
  • We had several resource operations fail around the same time with a return code of 128

  • A resource failed a status check and then another resource failed to stop resulting in the service going to a failed state:
