Why pvmove on clustered volumes throws "Module dm_log_clustered not found" error?

Issue

  • Running pvmove on clustered volumes fails
    pvmove will fail with error message
FATAL: Module dm_log_clustered not found.
/sbin/modprobe failed: 1

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5.3+ with Resilient Storage Add On
    • lvm2-cluster` version lvm2-cluster-2.02.40-7.el5 or higher
    • kmod-cmirror
    • cmirror
    • locking_type = 3 in /etc/lvm/lvm.conf
    • One or more volume group with the clustered attribute set
    • Using pvmove to move one or more clustered logical volumes
