Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

A Camel-based application running on Fuse, that accepts connections using HTTPS via Netty, occasionally throws exceptions of this form:

257 - org.jboss.netty - 3.9.3.Final | [org.jboss.netty.channel.DefaultChannelPipeline] An exception was thrown by a user handler while handling an exception event ([id: 0x961f8d96, /64.111.219.11:52353 :> /1.2.3.4:10000] EXCEPTION: .ssl.SSLHandshakeException: Invalid Padding length: 129)

The exceptions are not related to any particular client activity, and occur at unpredictable intervals.
