Fenced looping and using a high amount of CPU in RHEL 5

Issue

  • On five cluster systems, /usr/sbin/fenced goes into a loop on a node. On other nodes, it does not happen.
  • The daemon, fenced, consistently consuming high CPU usage since node was rebooted

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5 with the High Availability Add On
  • cman releases prior to 2.0.115-118.el5
