Why after long idle time, the first message fails during DB connection ?

Issue

• In my Fuse application, I am connection to PostgreSQL using jdbctemplate. The PostgreSQL DB is in a separate Unix box. After the application being idle for long time, the first message send is getting error. The subsequent messages are successfully processed after this initial error.
• Is it because the DB connection is somehow terminated and Fuse without recognizing this trying to use the same connection ? Can you please guide me on how to rectify if this issue ?
• DB version used is postgresql.version:9.1-901.jdbc4.
• This issue is happening only if the application is idle for long time.
