When deploying Tomcat Web Application (WAR) from JON, WAR is exploded even when 'Explode on Deploy' is set to false

Issue

  • We are seeing the WAR we are deploying as unwar of the app
  • We want the WAR to be deployed to specific location and not to be unwarred
  • Why is my WAR being exploded or unpacked on deploy?

Environment

  • JBoss Operations Network (JON) 3.0, 3.0.1, 3.1
  • Creating new resource of type Tomcat Web Application (WAR)
  • One of the following conditions applies:
    • WAR deployment option Explode on Deploy is set to No AND Tomcat server's server.xml Host element contains the attribute unpackWARs="true" for the respective target host
    • WAR deployment option Explode on Deploy is set to Yes
