How to use Quartz scheduler in JBoss BPM Suite application deployed on Tomcat?

Issue

We are running a BPMS application on Tomcat. Due to the usage of timers and PER_PROCESS_INSTANCE strategy, the startup time of the server has increased.

KBase article https://access.redhat.com/solutions/2055603 lists Quartz scheduler as possible solution to address the long startup times, but detailed steps on how to configure Quartz in Tomcat environment are missing.

In addition, which steps are needed to ensure pending timers are triggered after switching to Quartz.
