VG not activating due to missing PV with error " Cannot restore Volume Group with 1 PVs marked as missing."

Issue

  • VG not activating due to missing PV
  # vgcfgrestore -f /etc/lvm/archive/appvg_00015.vg appvg
  Couldn't find device with uuid xxxx-xxxx-xxx-xxxx.
  Cannot restore Volume Group appvg with 1 PVs marked as missing.
  Restore failed.
  • Disk not present under pvs output and unable to activate the VG as well.
