How can I stop cookie values from being quoted in JBoss EAP 4.3 or 5.0?

We upgraded to JBoss EAP 4.3_CP06+ a previous version and now some of our cookies are now going back to the browser quoted which is causing problems. For example
"rv=0&p1=0&p2=0&li=0&al=0&rs=visitor"
