RHEV documentation does not clarify optional ports in firewall configurations of manager and hypervisor
Issue
- Currently in our installation guide only port 22 is marked as optional, but if users aren't interested in utilizing SNMP or CIM ports 161 and 5989 are also optional. There is very little documentation about either of these services in regards to RHEV. If a justification is needed on why they should be opened or blocked, users will have a hard time knowing if it is needed without opening a ticket.
- There have been cases where user wanted to disable SNMP (port 161) but wasn't sure if it was optional or not
- Case where user isn't clear of the purpose of CIM which takes us to this vague solution, which points us at the 3.2 deployment guide, which shows us how to enable CIM, which would mean that it isn't enabled by default?
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization 3.5
