Why do I get error 'ddf1: wrong # of devices in RAID set "ddf1_..." on /dev/sd<x>' when I try to install RHEL?

Issue

  • When installing RHEL 6, the installer shows the following error messages on top of the "Examining Devices" screen:
ERROR: ddf1: wrong # of devices in RAID set "ddf1_4c5349202020202010000079100092614711471102e9f6e2" [2/1] on /dev/sdc
ERROR: ddf1: wrong # of devices in RAID set "ddf1_4c5349202020202010000079100092614711471102e9f6e2" [2/1] on /dev/sdb
  • After that, the installer presents the following Warning message:
Warning
Disks sdb, sdc contain BIOS RAID metadata, but
are not part of any recognized BIOS RAID sets.
Ignoring disks sdb, sdc.
[ OK ]
