Why S25netfs not mounting the CIFS shares at boot time ?

Solution In Progress - Updated -

Issue

  • We have a set of entries in /etc/fstab that should automatically mount our CIFS shares from the target Windows servers but it does not do this on reboot . When we run mount -a it does.
  • If we rename the S25netfs to say S98netfs i.e make it later in the boot sequence for run level 3 it then automount on reboot.
  • LDAP groups are used as options to mount the CIFS shares in /etc/fstab.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.6
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.7
