[SysMgmt RFE] old systems showing up on Kickstart overview page

Solution In Progress - Updated -

Issue

When we kickstart any system using satellite server the entry gets created in the Satellite "Kickstart Overview" Page, with following details

Systems Currently Kickstarting

System profile name / IP address, Boot Image, Kickstart Status, Last
change.

Here we get a list of systems which are installed using Bare metal kickstart from satellite server.

In the following cases, the system entry remains on the "Kickstart Overview" page

  1. If we kickstart a system and register, then delete the system profile from the satellite server.
  2. If the kickstart is completed and if we do not register the system to satellite server.
  3. If the kickstart failed in between.

But currently there is no feature available to delete entries manually on this page.

  • Business Requirements Satisfied By Request:
Systems showing up as currently kickstarting that cannot be removed could lead to confusion as to the state of those servers. Also, it clutters up the list so that its hard to tell which ones are actually kickstarting
    now.

  • Functional Requirements That Are Not Presently Possible:
When we go to "Kickstart Overview" page on satellite server (login to satellite server from WebUI -> Systems -> Kickstart [Systems Currently Kickstarting]), we can see the list of systems which are kickstarted from satellite
server, which are successfully installed and registered , installation failed, installation was incomplete/aborted.

Currently it is not possible to delete old system records from this page. We want the option to manually delete these system records.

  • What Will Success Look Like:
On Kickstart Overview page we get list of all systems which are kickstarted from the satellite server which are no longer exists now. So we should be able to delete these systems manually.

Environment

  • Red Hat Satellite 5.5.x and earlier
