RHEL server hangs at server boot with message: Timed out waiting for dev-mapper-VG\LV.device
Issue
- RHEL server boot sometime goes into maintenance mode with following error messages:
[* ]A start job is running for dev-mapper-VG\LV.device...29s / 1min 30s)
[ TIME ] Timed out waiting for dev-mapper-VG\LV.device.
[DEPEND] Dependency failed for /data.
[DEPEND] Dependency failed for Local File Systems.
[DEPEND] Dependency failed for Relabel all filesystems, if necessary.
[DEPEND] Dependency failed for Mark the need to relabel after reboot.

Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6
- HP 3PAR storage using HP provided multipath ALUA stanza
- Multipathing enabled
