[RHEV] Creating the rhevadmin user in Active Directory

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • RHEV requires a special user to be the Administrator. This user might not have much privileges in Active Directory, but in order to use RHEV templates, this user must have the ability to add an unlimited number of machines to the Active Directory, while a regular user is limited to 10 machines only.
  • The vdc-log.txt (or the rhevm.log in RHEV 3) will contain error messages similar to the following:
     09Jun 07:43:15 [12444] ERROR - USER_FAILED_TO_AUTHENTICATE : username
     09Jun 08:43:07 [10872] INFO - Running AD command: searchUserByQueryCommand
     09Jun 08:43:07 [10872] WARN - Failed AD command searchUserByQueryCommand , user: domain.com\username
System.DirectoryServices.DirectoryServicesCOMException (0x8007052E): Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password.
