fence_scsi fails to create a SCSI registration and sg_persist throws error "PR out: bad field in cdb including unsupported service action" in RHEL 6

Issue

  • With fence_scsi agent, the following errors are raised:
fence_scsi: [debug] main::do_register_ignore (node_key=18b70002, dev=/dev/sdbq)                                                
fence_scsi: [debug] main::do_reset (dev=/dev/sdbq, status=0)                                                                   
fence_scsi: [error] failed to create registration (key=18b70002, device=/dev/disk/by-id/scsi-360060480000290105047533034303245)
fence_scsi: [debug] main::do_register_ignore (err=5)
  • sg_persist fails to register a SCSI device:
# sg_persist --out --register --param-sark=123abc /dev/disk/by-id/scsi-360060480000290105047533032353130
  EMC       SYMMETRIX         5773
  Peripheral device type: disk
PR out: bad field in cdb including unsupported service action
  • fence_scsi does not work on my cluster nodes

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6 with the High Availability Add On
  • fence_scsi configured as the fence method
