RHEV help regarding adding NFS storage domain
Issue
- I have two machines which I intend to use as hypervisors one is an IBM server and the other is a desktop PC both support virtualization
- The desktop pc now is installed with RHEVH 7 and the IBM server needs to be formatted and reinstalled with RHEVH as well however there are few tasks that I need to accomplish:
- First is that I need to virtualize 3 machines using virt-p2v and then load these machines on to the IBM server as VMs.
- Second is that I need to create the nfs export/mport folders on the IBM server as that is the only place where we have space now I know that local data and iso can be setup on the hypervisor but do not know if I can use the IBM machine for mounting the nfs import/export shares for the conversion
- I can create a temporary RHEL6.7 conversion server on another machine running virtualbox
- Other questions are :
1. Can I have BOTH local and NFS storage on the hosts in the datacenter and
select as necessary for each VM?
2. Can the RHEVH on the other pc attach to the NFS share on the IBM server
running RHEL6.7 for some of its VMS and then also attach some VMs to the
local hard drive?
3. Is there any limitation in using the IBM server's local space by mapping
all shares - nfs/iso/export/import as nfs shares on its own hard drives by
referring to them as host:/nfssharelocation for the VMs being planned to be
deployed on the IBM host ?
4. The IBM host is also being planned to act as a storage server for
sending p2v images to its hard drives to be deployed either on the IBMi or
the PC host as space and processor availability permit.
