RHEL 6 NFS client often creating application core dumps for 'umount.nfs' process

Issue

  • Perodically an application core dump is created when the umount.nfs process experiences a segmentation fault.

  • umount is explicitly being called on an NFS path that is an automount path

  • The umount command fails due to a segmentation fault.

  • kernel 2.6.32-220.17.1.el6.x86_64
  • autofs-5.0.5-39.el6_2.1.x86_64
  • nfs-utils-1.2.3-15.el6_2.1.x86_64
