Allow QCOW2 format disks with backing files for hierarchical templates

Solution In Progress - Updated -

Issue

When a template is created from a VM, the disks are always created as a complete copy of the disk. This is not very efficient for storage usage, and doesn't make use of the backing file, reducing cache efficiencies.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Virtualisation 3.x
  • File based Storage Domains
