RHEL: netstat -lptu returns getnameinfo failed error message

Issue

  • Command netstat -lptu has an output with following lines(extract):
getnameinfo failed
udp        0      0 [UNKNOWN]:123 :::*                                    38         21936      1955/ntpd           off (0.00/0/0)
getnameinfo failed
udp        0      0 [UNKNOWN]:123 :::*                                    0          13854      1955/ntpd           off (0.00/0/0)
getnameinfo failed
udp        0      0 [UNKNOWN]:123 :::*                                    0          13853      1955/ntpd           off (0.00/0/0)
udp        0      0 localhost:123                     :::*                                    0          13852      1955/ntpd           off (0.00/0/0)
udp        0      0 *:123                      :::*                                    0          13841      1955/ntpd           off (0.00/0/0)
