httpd_enable_homedirs SELinux boolean does not prevent access to home directory

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • Apaches permissions to serve content from a directory such as /home/user/public_html can not be influenced by performing setsebool -P httpd_enable_homedirs off. Doing a wget http://localhost/~user/index.html gets content from the apache either way.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
  • selinux-policy
