How to enable services in RHEV hypervisor
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Hypervisor 7
Issue
Because of migration to systemd, enabling/disabling services is not persisted in RHEL7-based hypervisor
Resolution
As temporary workaround ovirt-early service can be used:
Installation
- Install RHEV-H but append
ovirt_early=localto the grub/syslinux command line when starting the installer
After installation:
- Login as admin
- Drop to shell
- Create the file
/etc/ovirt-early.d/post-localwith the contents:
systemctl start <your_service> - Make it executable:
chmod a+x /etc/ovirt-early.d/post-local - Persist it:
persist /etc/ovirt-early.d/post-local - Reboot
- After reboot:
- Check that the service is running:
systemctl status <your_service>
Root Cause
Changes are not persisted after reboot. The issue is tracked under bugzilla
Diagnostic Steps
systemctl enable <your_service>- reboot the host
systemctl status <your_service># shows service as disabled
