"Permission denied" errors on /run/teamd/team0.conf when starting or restarting NetworkManager

Issue

  • When trying to start or restart NetworkManager with a teamed interface, the restart fails
  • The logs for the start or restart show the following:
teamd: Failed to get absolute path of "/run/teamd/team0.conf": Permission denied
systemd: teamd@team0.service: main process exited, code=exited, status=1/FAILURE
systemd: Failed to start Team Daemon for device team0.
systemd: Unit teamd@team0.service entered failed state.
network: Bringing up interface team0:  Job for teamd@team0.service failed. See 'systemctl status teamd@team0.service' and 'journalctl -xn' for details.
network: [FAILED]

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
  • NetworkManager with a teamed interface set up
