Is there a comprehensive way to interact with complex WebServices, Database and Messaging providers in BPMS 6 ?

Issue

• The requirement is to create a process where lots of system call-outs (e.g. complex WebServices, Database interactions, and interactions with Messaging provider) are required. But while building the process users are not able to find any modular way or components to achieve those call-outs in BPMS 6 other than creating Custom Workhandlers. From jBPM forum also the experts suggest to create Custom Workhandlers to call such services.
• Is there any component to call complex Webservices, Database interactions or interactions with Messaging provider ?
