Why does libguestfs fails to inject file while launching new instance on RHEL 6 OpenStack Node ?

Issue

  • Nova fails to boot instances when injected with file on to an xfs based instance image .
# nova boot --image rhel7-modified --flavor m1.smal --key-name sshkey1 --file /root/.ssh/authorized_keys=/root/.ssh/authorized_keys_file instance_inject1
  • File injection fails when using instance images base on xfs filesystem with sector size != 512 .

Environment

  • Red Hat OpenStack 5.0 on RHEL 6
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
