How to change the way the Volume Group and Logical Volume appears? The tool 'dmsetup rename' failed to change the default format of LVM?

Issue

  • dmsetup rename is not working properly. Here is the problem.

1) Try to change the device mapper name, e.g

`dmsetup rename VG00-LV00 VG00_LV00`

The command will be executed properly and also the device 'VG00-LV00' will be renamed as 'VG00_LV00'(replaced the - hyphen by _ underscore).

2) Now reboot the system. Once the system is up, the changes done in #1 will lost and the devices will appear with the old names.

  • Want to change the way the Volume Group and Logical Volume appears in System, For example Volume Group name is VG00 and Logical Volume is LV00. So, the device mapper name appearing as

/dev/mapper/VG00-LVoo However, is it possible to appear it as, /dev/mapper/VG00_LV00 (replaced the - with _ )

Are there any other alternatives to do it ?
