vdsmd doesn't start

Issue

  • After reboot/upgrade of my host vdsmd does not start any more.
  • There is no hint in /var/log/vdsm/vdsmd.log why vdsmd is not starting
  • The startscript itself does not complain. Startup seems to be successfull, but service vdsmd status tells that vdsmd is not running.
  • /var/log/messages shows a lot of respawning messages for /usr/share/vdsm/vdsm

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization (RHEV) 3.x
  • vdsmd-4.x
