Trying to add a RHCS/Ceph Monitor node with ceph-deploy at installation time failed, why?

Issue

  • Trying to add a RHCS/Ceph monitor node failed at the time of installation.

  • ceph-deploy failed with the following messages:

[mon-hostname][INFO  ]  Running command: ceph --cluster=ceph --admin-daemon /var/run/ceph/ceph-mon.<mon-hostname>.asok mon_status
[mon-hostname][ERROR ] admin_socket: exception getting command descriptions: [Errno 2] No such file or directory
[mon-hostname][WARNIN] monitor <mon-hostname> does not exist in monmap
[mon-hostname][WARNIN] neither `public_addr` nor `public_network` keys are defined for monitors
[mon-hostname][WARNIN] monitors may not be able to form quorum
  • The commands shown below were executed which eventually errored out:
# ceph-deploy install <mon-hostname>
# ceph-deploy mon create <mon-hostname>
# ceph-deploy mon add <mon-hostname>
