Cannot update RHEV, host is missing UUID

Solution Verified - Updated -

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization 3.0

Issue

  • We are trying to upgrade RHEV from 3.0 to 3.1 (on the way to 3.4), but one of the hosts is reporting a missing UUID (though dmidecode shows it fine).
  • The issue appears to be in the RHEV Manager database, one entry seems to be of a different format to the rest, ie:
# /usr/share/ovirt-engine/dbscripts/engine-psql.sh -c "select host_name, vds_name, vds_unique_id from vds order by host_name;"
  host_name | vds_name | vds_unique_id
--------------+----------+--------------------------------------

 10.1.1.2 | rhev3h2 | 90C758AB-D08E-11E0-BBDA-2B6497F73CP0_52:54:00:44:55:66
 10.1.1.3 | rhev3h3 | Not_52:54:00:12:34:56
  • dmidecode output seems to report the UUID fine
