Mirrored logical volume getting unmirrored automatically after storage failure?

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • Can we change the default behaviour of LVM mirror which now switches to linear if a leg failure occurs?
  • Can we configure it such that, lvm shows the failed disk degraded and once the fail disk comes online again, sync should start automatically
  • This is to avoid manual intervention if a failure occurs and issue gets addressed after sometime on it's own?
  • We have observed that in case one of the storage device goes offline for some period of time, the mirrored logical volumes are automatically converted to linear volumes. We do want this to happen. We require that the mirrored volumes get synced as soon as the unavailable physical volumes become available and never get converted. What are the optimal settings required for this to happen.
