camel-netty-http rejects requests with lower case header 'host'

Solution Verified - Updated -

Environment

  • Red Hat JBoss Fuse 6.1.0

Issue

When testing with Camel version:
- 2.12.0.redhat-611423

We observe the component 'camel-http-netty' does not consume HTTP requests containing the header 'host' in lower case.

For instance, the following HTTP request would be rejected:

  GET /index.html HTTP/1.1
  host: www.example.com

While the following one accepted as 'Host' has capital 'H':

  GET /index.html HTTP/1.1
  Host: www.example.com

According the following RFC, "Field names are case-insensitive" - http://www.w3.org/Protocols/rfc2616/rfc2616-sec4.html#sec4.2

Resolution

This is know issue in Camel - CAMEL-8411 . We have backported the fix to the Fuse 6.1 R2P3 patch.
