After dynamically reducing memory on Oracle VM server does not boot

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • The memory allocated to a Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.6 server was reduced dynamically via Oracle VM. The server ran fine until reboot at which point the boot went into an endless cycle - boot -> grub -> boot -> grub

Environment

  • VM Client in Oracle VM environment 2.2.2
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.6
