Why are we unable to set acl access on a Netapp - NAS filesystem even though it is mounted with acl option?

Issue

  • We are unable to set acl access on a Netapp - NAS filesystem which is mounted with acl option.

  • Why are we getting below error?

[root@desktop test]# setfacl -m u:mihulsen:rwx /test/TEST1
setfacl: /test/TEST1: Operation not supported
[root@desktop test]#

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6
  • acl
