A node in a RHEL 6 or 7 High Availability pacemaker cluster can't be fenced and stonith-ng reports "can_fence_host_with_device: <device> can not fence (reboot) <node>: static-list" when using semi-colon delimiter in pcmk_host_list

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • I've configured fence_kdump and I panic the node, but the node still gets fenced before it can dump a core and I see "kdump can not fence (reboot) node1.example.com: static-list" even though I've got a pcmk_host_list specified with that node in it
Mar 26 09:50:26 rhel7-node1 stonith-ng[3392]: notice: can_fence_host_with_device: kdump can not fence (reboot) rhel7-node2.example.com: static-list
  • stonith doesn't seem to accept a semicolon delimiter in pcmk_host_list
  • When I create a pcmk_host_list on my stonith device for my nodes, the nodes don't get fenced properly

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6 or 7 with the High Availability Add On
  • pacemaker releases prior to 1.1.10-13.el7
  • One or more stonith devices configured with the pcmk_host_list attribute
    • The nodes in the pcmk_host_list value are delimited by `;' or any character besides ',' or a space (' ').
