Application in cluster service with muliple IPs only listening on one IP in RHEL

Issue

  • My cluster has a postgres-8 resource and multiple IPs, and postgresql is only listening on one of them
  • My cluster has an apache resource and multiple IPs, and postgresql is only listening on one of them
  • My cluster has a mysql resource and multiple IPs, and postgresql is only listening on one of them
  • My cluster has a named resource and multiple IPs, and postgresql is only listening on one of them
  • My cluster has an openldap resource and multiple IPs, and postgresql is only listening on one of them
  • My cluster has a samba resource and multiple IPs, and postgresql is only listening on one of them
  • My cluster has a tomcat-6 resource and multiple IPs, and postgresql is only listening on one of them
  • When our cluster starts, it fails to start an apache, mysql, named, openldap, postgres-8, samba, or tomcat-6 resource because it can't create a listen socket on the IP resource thats in the same service

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5 or 6 with the High Availability Add On
  • A service containing more than one ip resource, and one of the following resources:
    • apache
    • mysql
    • named
    • openldap
    • postgres-8
    • samba
    • tomcat-6
