What are the steps to add an OSD back to a Ceph cluster?

Issue

• One of the OSDs were removed from the Ceph cluster using the steps below, where ${id} is the numeric ID of the OSD removed:

  1. Remove the OSD from the Crush map

     # ceph osd crush remove osd.${id}
     

  2. Remove the OSD from the OSD listing

     # ceph osd rm ${id}
     

  3. Remove the OSD's authentication keys

     # ceph auth del osd.${id}
     

• This OSD needs to be re-added to the cluster.

• ceph-deploy disk lists shows the disk as prepared.
• Running ceph-deploy osd activate ${osd-node}:${device} changed the OSD status to ACTIVE.
• ceph -s does not show the new OSD as part of the ceph cluster.
