Cannot delete system profile from Satellite WebUI

Environment

  • Red Hat Satellite 5.6

Issue

  • Cannot delete system profile from satellite WebUI showing error :
 System profile could not be deleted. Check cobbler service.
  • From the catalina logs the error is :
redstone.xmlrpc.XmlRpcException: A network error occurred.
        at redstone.xmlrpc.XmlRpcClient.endCall(XmlRpcClient.java:380)
        at redstone.xmlrpc.XmlRpcClient.invoke(XmlRpcClient.java:165)
        at com.redhat.rhn.manager.kickstart.cobbler.CobblerXMLRPCHelper.invokeMethod(CobblerXMLRPCHelper.java:69)
        ... 48 more
Caused by: 
java.net.ConnectException: Connection timed out

Resolution

  • This issue can occur if cobblerd service is not running on Satellite system. Restart this service if it is not running using command 
# service cobblerd restart
# cobbler sync
  • Please make sure the permissions of the file etc/cobbler/settings should be 644
