Limitations on cores that can be used to run the JBoss per enterprise subscription

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • Is there any number of core limitations about how many cores (including all VMS, physical OS) can be used to run the JBoss per our enterprise license. E.g. Lets say we are running 10 instances of JBoss on 5 different servers with 2 core each. It means we are utilizing 10 cores over all.
  • Can we run as many instances of JBoss with as many cores as we want ?
  • Core limitations for JBoss ?
  • We have seen on JBossSubscriptionGuide.pdf, a description of licensing by physical or virtual cores. Does that mean if I license by physical core I can run multiple instances of JBoss EAP on the server? For example, I buy a 16-core license for a server with two 8-core CPUs. Can I now run two virtual machines on that server where each virtual machine has all 16 cores allocated to it (for a total of 32 cores allocated to two different JBoss EAP instances)? Or am I required to have two 16-core licenses in this case?

Environment

  • Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (EAP)
    • All version
