Issue

  • multipath giving error - "sdax: checker msg is "directio checker reports path is down""
  • When multipath command is run, getting following errors for some of the storage disks. This disks are from NetApp storage and are used as ASM disks for Oracle 11g RAC. Following are the error messages:
[root@host ~]# multipath
sdax: checker msg is "directio checker reports path is down"
/sbin/scsi_id exitted with 1
cannot get the the wwid for sdax
sday: checker msg is "directio checker reports path is down"
/sbin/scsi_id exitted with 1
cannot get the the wwid for sday
sdaz: checker msg is "directio checker reports path is down"
/sbin/scsi_id exitted with 1
cannot get the the wwid for sdaz
sdba: checker msg is "directio checker reports path is down"
/sbin/scsi_id exitted with 1
cannot get the the wwid for sdba
sdax: checker msg is "directio checker reports path is down"
sday: checker msg is "directio checker reports path is down"
sdaz: checker msg is "directio checker reports path is down"
sdba: checker msg is "directio checker reports path is down"

Also, in the messages it is saying as I/O error:

multipathd: sdax: directio checker reports path is down
kernel: end_request: I/O error, dev sdax, sector 0
multipathd: sday: directio checker reports path is down
kernel: end_request: I/O error, dev sday, sector 0
kernel: end_request: I/O error, dev sdaz, sector 0
multipathd: sdaz: directio checker reports path is down
multipathd: sdba: directio checker reports path is down
kernel: end_request: I/O error, dev sdba, sector 0
