Configuring Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform to use one volumes for instances.

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • Ho can we configure Openstack, so that instances can only be spun up with volumes as their storage (no ephemeral storage). Essentially to limit the available options to only those that would create an image backed on cinder storage.
Example:
* Boot from image <---- Disable this option
* Boot from snapshot <---- Disable this option
* Boot from volume
* Boot from image (creates new volume)
* Boot from volume snapshot (creates new volume)

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform 5.0
